Governor urges greater collaboration in science and technology to tackle climate change, food insecurity, healthcare and youth unemployment across the Muslim world.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Mandera Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif has called for stronger collaboration among governments, universities, research institutions and the private sector to accelerate education, scientific research and innovation across the Muslim world.
Governor Khalif made the remarks while addressing the Inter-Islamic Forum for the Advancement of Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, organized by COMSTECH, the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The high-level forum brought together delegates from OIC member states, including ambassadors, diplomats, university vice-chancellors, scientists and scholars, to explore ways of strengthening cooperation in higher education, scientific research, technological innovation and knowledge-sharing.
In his address, Governor Khalif underscored the critical role of education, research and innovation in driving sustainable development and improving livelihoods.
He said stronger partnerships between governments, academia, industry and international organizations are essential to transform scientific research into practical solutions that address pressing global challenges.
“The challenges facing our communities including climate change, food insecurity, healthcare needs and youth unemployment cannot be addressed in isolation. They require robust partnerships among universities, research institutions, governments and the private sector,” Governor Khalif said.
The governor noted that increased investment in research and innovation would help OIC member states develop sustainable solutions in healthcare, agriculture, climate resilience, digital transformation and economic development.
He also commended COMSTECH for its continued efforts in promoting scientific excellence, capacity building and technological cooperation among OIC member states.
Governor Khalif reaffirmed the Mandera County Government’s commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships, supporting collaborative research initiatives and expanding opportunities for innovation to drive inclusive and sustainable development.
The forum forms part of ongoing efforts by the OIC to enhance scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange among member states as they work towards achieving shared development goals.
