Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to advancing immunisation efforts across Africa, following the rollout of a new Continental Immunization Strategy by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Speaking during a high-level ministerial forum in Nairobi, Duale described the strategy as a major step toward closing immunisation gaps and safeguarding millions of children, particularly those who have not yet received any vaccines.

He highlighted the need to strengthen health systems, increase domestic financing, and adopt digital tools to improve vaccine tracking and expand coverage, as African countries work toward achieving universal immunisation by 2030.

Kenya, he noted, is aligning its ongoing health reforms with the continental agenda by scaling up outreach programs in underserved areas and reinforcing primary healthcare systems.

Duale also stressed the importance of accountability and collaboration, acknowledging the critical support of partners such as UNICEF, World Health Organization, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance in advancing Africa’s immunisation goals.

The forum brought together health leaders and development partners from across the continent, marking a significant milestone in shaping Africa’s vaccine future.
