GARISSA – Garissa University has taken a significant step towards strengthening agricultural research and innovation after hosting a high-level delegation from the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) for consultative discussions on a proposed Joint Venture Agreement and the Mother Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The ADC delegation was led by Corporation Secretary Mr. Rodgers Karumpu, while the Garissa University team was headed by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Student Affairs and Research), Prof. Frederick B. J. A. Ngala.

The consultative meeting focused on reviewing the draft agreements, aligning the expectations of both institutions, and charting a clear roadmap towards formalising a long-term strategic partnership.

According to the university, the proposed collaboration is expected to enhance practical training, agricultural research, innovation, and community outreach by leveraging ADC’s expertise and resources in agriculture and agribusiness.

The partnership is also expected to create new opportunities for students and academic staff through industrial attachment programmes, collaborative research, technology transfer, commercialization of research outputs, and improved resource mobilization.

University officials expressed optimism that the engagement would culminate in the successful signing and implementation of the agreements, paving the way for stronger collaboration between academia and the agricultural sector.

The initiative underscores Garissa University’s commitment to forging strategic partnerships that support quality education, research excellence, innovation, and sustainable socio-economic development in the region.
