Lesotho Rally from Behind with Lesako and Motebang Goals to Seal AFCON 2027 Progress.

Lesotho produced a thrilling second-half fightback to overcome Seychelles 2-1 in the second leg of their TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) PAMOJA 2027 preliminary tie, booking their place in the next qualifying round.

Seychelles Strike Early

After a goalless first leg, the return fixture in Lesotho started with Seychelles seizing the initiative. Brandon Labrosse scored just before halftime, assisted by Don Fanchette, leaving Lesotho staring at elimination.

The opening period saw Lesotho struggle to assert themselves, losing key duels and showing a lack of sharpness in attack, allowing Seychelles to dominate early proceedings.

Lesotho Turn the Tide

Coming out for the second half with renewed energy, Lesotho gradually took control, showing composure in possession and stretching the Seychelles defence. Their persistence paid off when Lebohang Lesako struck in the 50th minute to level the tie and lift the team’s spirits.

Momentum firmly on their side, Lesotho pressed on, and Sera Motebang netted the decisive goal in the 82nd minute, completing a remarkable turnaround and putting Lesotho ahead on aggregate for the first time.

Grit and Resilience Rewarded

The 2-1 comeback secured Lesotho’s progression from the two-legged tie, showcasing their resilience and fighting spirit under pressure.

With a display of tactical discipline and attacking quality, Lesotho now set their sights on the next stage of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers, determined to continue their impressive campaign.
